Keep It Simple

GARY never gets sick of writing his tag all over town.
Ann Arbor, MI

In other news, the graffiti creator is something to go try. It's hours of endless entertainment even if you have no artistic talent.

The Birds

The infamous Hitchcock with his birds. This is part of a series of street paintings of famous directors and actors that adorn the Hollywood streets. This picture was taken during my Christmas trip.

Number One Chicken

I've got some more Ace Deuce Railroad Trax style for you here:

GARY
Not just all city, but all folding chair. That shit is sweet. The panda's pretty great too--although I don't know if I can credit him to Gary.

GARY
This chicken is the number one-est.

?
The wildest of styles.

?
This one really reminds me of a swimming pool or the 70s. Or maybe both.

Oi!

These are some shots that I took while living in London. On the whole, I found much of the street art I saw in London to be more political than what I see day to day in America.

All the following are from the New Cross Gate/Deptford area of the city or bus rides to and from that area:

ADVERTS ARE VANDALISM
There's no denying how clever this is on multiple levels; using so-called "vandalism" to shift the perception of what vandalism really is--somebody getting in your space without asking and trying to sell you shit.

OBEY CONFORM CONSUME
A subversive demand.

DEALERS KILL
Not much one can say to that.

Kickin' It Off All Local

So, I set up this blog to post fotos I've taken of street art and graffiti. I specifically want to post work here that I find interesting, innovative and engaging. No throw-ups. I live in Ann Arbor, Michigan--so much of the work you see here will be from AA. However, I travel a fair amount and I love graffiti and street art, so there will also be posts from other places. I will always be forthcoming about the locale. Additionally, I would like to note that I own the copyright for all of these pictures. I'm ok with people reposting them, but please let me know and DO NOT direct link me. The following pieces are from Ann Arbor, near the Huron River: NEAT I love how this one pops out at you like an old timey saloon. GARY The best is how old school Gary is; he wrote his name so many times all over town that he made himself a legend. His work/the way he chooses to get his work out there reminds me of graphic novelist Dan Clowes and his serial name-scribbler, "Norman," in Ghost World. RODEO This burner is just super original, which is why I like it.
